Hello All! It’s seems like this week was the week for crazy here. Hope you all enjoy the following.
Our vacation is coming up and after much thought and discussion, we decided that it would be best to fly instead of drive from TX to FL, due to all the Harvey and gas issues. So I get online at expedia and began booking the flight and car rental. We rarely fly so I’m not that familar with booking flights and these online deals are confusing if you don’t read carefully lol.
So … I’m all set, have the flights picked out, the car picked out and I’m ready to hit the “Booking” button. Suddenly the dog throws up on the rug, my phone starts ringing and someone is at the front door. In a matter of seconds I decide to leave the dog for a few, click the phone to ignore the call, click the Booking button and run to get the door. Well …. not good!!!
Solicitor at the door (arghhhh), clean up the dog mess and get her all taken care of, then look at the computer for results of the booking. OHHHHH NOOOOOO!!!! The departure flight says 8:40PM – arrive at 12:52AM and the car has to be picked up by 11PM!!!! This is not right. I had picked an AM flight that left at 9:04 not a PM flight! What the heck has happened??
Ok don’t panic I think. Call Expedia and see what you need to do. I call and have to have a return call 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours from now. Sheesh that’s not good. So I leave my number for the return call then call American Airlines to see what they say. Good news is I can cancel or change within 24 hrs at no charge. So I go back to expedia and try to make the change online but they want to charge me $535.00. WHAT THE HECK??? Ok I’m now thinking the best thing to do is just leave it alone and wait for the return call from expedia.
Much later ….. Expedia agrees to change the departing flight at no charge BUT … if I want to keep the same return flight then it will be $450.00. LOL Are they kidding??? What the heck is the difference. I explained that I had contacted American and they confirmed that their policy was no charge to change or cancel within a 24 hr period so why the heck was Expedia trying to charge me??? Funny … she had no concrete answer.
In the end it all worked out and I even saved $125.00 on the balance! I had to cancel the entire order then re-book it all. Go figure? Seems to me the gal could have just done all that on the phone in the first place, or, simply changed the departing flight and it all would have been fine.
Personaly I think Expdedia needs an “Oooops” button you can click within the hour if you realize a mistake has been made in your booking lol.
Till next time …
