North Pole: Santas Workshop

FREE IN SHOP TILL DEC. 25th 2019!

Here it is . . .  the North Pole Series “Santa’s Workshop“!!!  The kit includes 23 printable sheets with lots of extras for you to decorate your workshop.  The top flips backward, allowing you to add a tea light inside and the roof comes off so you can add a second tea light in the bottom half.

PDF Tutorial is included with step-by-step instructions and 74 photos!  There is also a file in the download with a link to the online tutorial for those who prefer to work that way.

NOTE: For those who work with cutting machines, files are in png or jpg format and can easily be uploaded into your machine software for cutting!  I do have plans on creating cut files for these soon but not sure how quickly I will get to them.

Finished size is about:  12″ wide, 17″ tall, 10-1/2″ deep (base).

You’ll find the kit in my shop by this evening!!!

Here are a few other views of the workshop . . . you can see how it opens so you can add tea lights inside.

I created the back to open and close.  I thought it would be a fun idea to get the book “The Night Before Christmas”, store it in the back and make it a family tradition to read the book every Christmas Eve!

Another option . . . I’ll be creating a photo album to coordinate with this project, later on in the month, that can be stored in the back of the workshop.

Next up . . . The Gazebo . . .

If you are new to the series, you’ll find several projects, we completed last year, in my shops.

For those of you who will be purchasing the project kit, I thought you might want to get started by gathering up the materials you’ll be needing for the project.  Below are some links you’ll find helpful in getting your supplies ready.  Please don’t hesitate to leave a comment should you have questions about anything.

Materials . . . (links at bottom of post)

  • 12×12 Medium Weight Chipboard (pack of 25 sheets)
  • Distressing Ink – I’ll be using Vintage Photo
  • white matte cardstock for printing kit sheets/papers
  • kraft color cardstock – for construction strips
  • 1/4″ score tape

Additional / Optional Materials

The kit will include printable windows and a door.  You can use these or if you prefer, use the Spellbinders dies that I’ll be using.

Update:   I did not use the Icicle or Gate dies on the workshop but will use them in other projects for the series.

This gate is different than the one I’m using but it’s under Amazon Prime and the other isn’t so you choose what you want to do.  Either one will work fine.

We will be using a lot of the Martha Stewart Sparkle Texture Effect so you might want to get two jars of this?  We used it on the stable and will be using it for all projects in the series.

One more thing you might want to think about is . .  do you want to use physical elements mixed with the paper ones or use only paper ones from the kit.  I like the mix of the two myself.  If you want to mix both then you might look around for the following items . . .

  • Mr & Mrs Santa Claus – could be wood, ceramic, possibly a Hallmark ornament.  They need to be no taller than the door so probably no taller than 3-1/4″.
  • Tiny holiday wreath for the door – about 1″ in diameter
  • Miniature holiday candy/pepermints – no larger than 1″ in diameter – one way of getting these are in the form of a Garland.  You can find a lot of options on Amazon
  • Red & White paper straws
  • Miniature plastic or light up Christmas trees
  • Miniature Elfs
  • Miniature Reindeer

Those are just some ideas for now.  Give it some thought and think about how you might want to decorate your own workshop!

I hope your excited about the Workshop and please feel free to ask questions or send me pics of your finished projects!!!

LIGHTING TIP: for the Gazebo, use LED lights, attach batery pack to the backside of lower wall then run wires up through the straw onto the ceiling. For the Workshop, place battery pack in the back opening and run wires into the house near the ceiling.
