Welcome back to the Tropical Delight project in the round for my Crafty Friday Crochet! I’ve decided that what we have been working on is perfect for a pillow top so that’s what we will finish up this week. We will be adding the final four rows to the pillow front in this section.
I’ll also be making a lapghan to go with the pillow so feel free to join me with that project starting March 1st.
NOTE: you will need to have a 17″ pillow form to go inside your finished pillow.
Before starting, please double check and count your stitches in the last row we completed in the previous week. You should have 51 SC stitches per side from corner to corner.
Pattern . . .
- R7 – Begin in any corner chain area with Forest yarn. Connect the yarn with a slip stitch, CH2, work a HDC in the same area. In the next stitch work a HDC then work HDC stitches in each stitch across the row. In the corner work 2HDC, CH1, 2HDC. Continue around each side in this manner. Slip stitch into the top stitch of the beginning chain and cut yarn. (55 stitches from corner to corner)
- R8 – Turn your work to the backside. Slip Stitch the Rose color yarn onto any corner chain area. CH1 and work a SC in the same corner area. *Work a SC in the next 5 stitches. Work a BS in the next stitch then a SC in the next 5 stitches. BS, 5 SC, BS, 5 SC, BS, 3 SC, BS, 3 SC, BS, 5 SC, BS, 5 SC, BS, 5 SC, BS, 5 SC. In corner work 2 SC, CH1, 2 SC. Repeat from * around remaining three sides. Slip stitch into the beginning chain and cut yarn. (59 stitches from corner to corner)
- R9 – repeat R7 in Forest yarn. (63 stitches corner to corner)
- R10 – begin in any corner with aran yarn, attach yarn with a slip stitch and CH2. Work a DC in same chain space. Work a DC in the next stitch and in each stitch across the row. In next corner work 2DC, CH1, 2DC. Again work DC stitches in each stitch across the row and repeat the corner stitches. Continue around all sides then slip stitch into the beginning chain stitch and CH1. (67 stitches corner to corner)
Congratulations! You have now finished the front of a pillow!! Check back next week to see how we will make a back for the pillow, insert the form and finish the edges.
See you next time!!
