featuring “Woodland Cabin” from JManLaserCrafts
Welcome back to the Woodland Cabin build! Still working on the inside, the first floor has been finished and I’ve moved into the second floor as well as the top floor. I won’t give a lot of building details here as the same techniques used previously have been repeated here.
As you can see above, I’ve added flooring to both rooms on the second floor. I’ve used two layers on these floors with slits cut into the first layer to hide the light wires. The stairs were glued in place and a false wall on the left side was added so that a small cabinet could be used if needed. I’ve also created poles for the left and right sides of coffee stir sticks. Originally I did this to hide wires but then realized that I didn’t need them for that purpose. The ceiling on the left sid was covered with cardstock strips, painted and sealed then beams made from foam board were glued in place. With the windows all installed, the second floor was finished.
For the ceiling on the top floor, cardstock strips were again glued down on both sides of the wood beams. The small partial wall was installed as well as the triangle piece to block off the excess room created by the partial wall. I added another foam board beam to finish off the top of the opposite half wall.
Below you can see the top ceiling is finished and ready to be installed. Lastly, here’s a look at the front outside with all roofs and stairs installed. I’m really happy at the way this build has turned out!
The final part of the build will be finishing the roofs then connecting the lights and adding a base. I’m stopping for a bit on this build till I’m able to get furniture here for the inside. Currently the upper floors are not glued into place so that furniture can be installed at a later time. I’ll be sure and make a final post when I get to that point so do check in from time to time!
I hope you enjoyed the process of this project and that you were able to get some ideas along the way.
Till next time . . .
Teri
UPDATE HERE . . . roofing plus shingles all finished.
