Just a quick post here to show how I finished the base for the Raven’s Perch kit from Petite Properties! It seems like it’s been years since I’ve had time to work on miniatures or make a post for that matter. Let me tell you . . . moving from one state to another is truly not the easiest thing we have done. That said, we have finally settled and the craft room is set up and back in business.
While getting settled in our new place I must have watched 100 plus craft/mini videos and ran across a site called Where The Gnomes Live. When I saw her tree videos I knew that the technique would work great for a miniature base and the Raven’s Perch build was the first that came to mind.
Here’s a link to her tree video. I highly suggest watching it!!!
And here’s a look at the finished base with a few close ups . . .
I started out with the original wood base from Petite Properties then added the aluminum foil between and around the base levels.
All areas with foil were then covered with masking tape as well as the glue and paper towel mixture as shown in the video mentioned above.
I simply love the way this all turned out with the technique lending itself well to the addional landscape I wanted. Stepping stones were created with egg carton pieces. The ground scatter and bushes were from Woodland Scenics.
Once finished the entire structure was sealed with Krylon matte spray sealer. I hope you enjoyed seeing the finished project at long last and that you will definitely give this technique a try!!
Happy crafting . . .
Teri
